Colin has teamed up with Cork-based filmmaker and video artist David Bickley to create a unique full-length film to accompany the Black album “Water On Stone”.
“I uncovered a narrative in the album which had echoes back to ancient mythology,” says David, “and had an idea for a 35 minute film that takes the viewer on a journey through the songs in the manner of an ancient saga”. David and Colin then began sequencing the tracks, developing the story and scouting for evocative locations steeped in history and mythology.
"This is one of the most fascinating projects I've ever worked on," says Colin. "David's imagination and film-making expertise have added a new layer of rich imagery and meaning without taking anything away from the original album. It's exciting for any artist to see their work expanded upon and moved into a completely different place from the one originally intended for it and I'm very happy with the result." The world premiere will be shown as part of the fringe of the Corona Fastnet Short Film Festival in Schull, West Cork, on May 28th. The 7pm screening will be at Hacketts, Main Street, Schull where both Colin and David will introduce and talk about the film. The event will be streamed live over the internet on our Ustream channel here.
