In an interview given to Dutch magazine Free, Matilde Santing has explained a little of how her cover of "Wonderful life" came to be. The song, recorded for Dutch insurance company Interpolis, was apparently not her own idea...
Interpolis called me up at a late stage. They were struggling with a failed campaign. The movie was done, but the music was rejected. They called me when my own CD was practically recorded. We only had the feeling that something still was missing on the album, like a simple guitar-based song or something. We thought, 'well, good timing...'. We did a few suggestions, as did the people from the ad agency. We finally made demos for five songs, one of which was "Wonderful life", one of the songs suggested by the ad agency. It was obvious quite early on that "Wonderful life" was the song to pick. There was a certain magic. After a while I understood that they also wanted to put it on my album and then I said that I wanted to record the full version, so that it would fit in the structure of the album. So it's now recorded on the album the way we wanted it to.
