A&M to be closed down

Date:
29 June 1998

The label A&M Records will cease to exist. Last week it was announced that the label which was established by Herb Alpert almost 30 years ago, and which released three Black albums, will be closed down. Artists still signed to the label, like a.o. Sting, will be transferred to other PolyGram labels like Vertigo and Mercury. Claims that the closure of A&M was forced by the new owner of PolyGram, Seagram, are being denied.
